About:

I can be a bit reserved at first, but I am very curious and open to new experiences. I am open to learning new cultures and curious to discover habits different from mine. I practice synchronized swimming at a competitive level, so I spend a lot of time between training and sports commitments. I don’t have much free time, but when I can, over the weekend, I like to see TV serie and go out with my friends: sometimes we go downtown, other times we just like to stay at home together and chat.

Student Letter:

Dear future host family,

My name is Asia and I live with my mother, my father and my sister in a small village in the North of Italy. I am 17 and I’m in my third year of high school (scientific lyceum).

My day is quite busy because I practice synchronized swimming from the age of 8 at a competitive level, so I spend a lot of time between training and sports commitments. I don’t have much free time, but when I can, over the weekend, I like to see TV series and go out with my friends: sometimes we go downtown, other times we just like to stay at home together and chat.I have a good relationship with my family: we love spending time together, whether it’s going for a walk, watching a movie, or simply chatting. We are also very passionate about traveling and enjoy exploring new places, discovering different cultures, and tasting different cuisines. We really like dining out and trying different restaurants, but what truly matters is being together and sharing special moments. I am also very fond of my grandparents who live in a house in the same courtyard and take care of me and my sister when my parents are not there.

In my free time, besides sports, I listen to a lot of music: it’s something that always accompanies me, especially during moments of relax. Another great passion of mine is travelling. I love discovering new places, meeting different people, and seeing how they live in other parts of the world. I have a dog named Ringo, a cat and a big turtle that lives in the garden. I love animals very much and I am always happy to spend time with them. The only exception concerns birds: for some reason I can’t even explain, am a little scared of them, regardless of the species or size. It’s something I’ve had since always, so I just prefer to keep my distance from them.

I am a somewhat reserved girl but very curious and open to new experiences. As a child I attended a few weeks of kindergarten and school in England, I made several trips with my family (including the United States) and I think I am ready to adapt to an environment different from that in which I live. Even though I don’t have clear ideas about my future at the moment, I know I want to grow as a person and become someone to be proud of. I couldn’t say what really makes me unique, but I think my way of being – a little reserved at first, but very open and talkative once I feel comfortable – is an important part of me.

I consider myself a reliable person and attentive to respecting the rules I am given, especially when I am in new contexts or with people I don’t know well yet. I hope to bring a bit of joy, my enthusiasm, and, of course, a piece of my Italian culture to your home. In return, I can’t wait to learn from your daily life, your values, and what makes your country special.

Thank you for giving me this opportunity!

Best regards, Asia.

Student Letter:

Dear Future Host Family,

I’m Margot, I’m from Italy and I can’t wait to undertake this new experience that I’ve dreamed of for a long time.

I have a very open personality, I can adapt to any situation, and I am always very enthusiastic about anything I do: this very often leads me to be perhaps disappointed by the situation because my expectations are always too high. I’m a very honest person, and I tend to say what I think. Sometimes this can lead to misunderstandings or disagreements, because if I feel something isn’t right, I naturally express my point of view. It’s never meant to create conflict, I just believe that honesty is important in relationships, even if it’s not always easy.

Given my very open personality I can say that I have a lot of friends both female and male, but my real best friend is just one: I met her three years ago in my first year of high school because we happened to be in class together, but until last year we hadn’t tied so much. This year I discovered many new friendships, including this one I just talked about, and I think the main cause was the fact that I changed the pool I swam in since I was born.

I live with my family consisting of my mother, my father and my little sister: I have a good relationship with my parents even if even though I’m sociable. I don’t have a very close relationship with my sister but obviously I love her very much even though I don’t always talk to her. We don’t have animals at home, but anyway I don’t have allergies or phobias about them in fact I would really like to have one!

Since I was little, I have always liked going to school and I’m always among the best in the class: I like to learn new things and anyway I consider myself a curious girl in fact let’s say that it never bothered me to study. Although I’m doing quite well in all subjects, I prefer subjects like math and science to classic ones like Italian and history (the subject I like the least of all) precisely for this reason as an address in high school I choose the scientific mathematical one which means that I do more hours of mathematics than the traditional one. During middle school, the new subject of technical drawing was introduced, which I immediately adored and that I am continuing to do even in high school: from this I began to think about my future and I think I would really like to be either an architect or an engineer.

I hope my profile has aroused your interest and that you are curious to know me as I am curious to know you!

I hope that this experience will give me the opportunity to mature in the sense of learning to manage difficult situations in another language, in another country and far from my family. Thank you so much.

I look forward to meeting you!

About:

I am an active and outgoing teenager who loves the outdoors! My favorite hobby is sailing and I have represented my country in several sailing competitions. I think being out in the waters while sailing is quite relaxing and helps me clear my mind. I am also quite mature and a very calm person, no matter the circumstances, I believe in a positive attitude and communication which I believe can solve most problems, just like in sailing.

Student Letter:

Dear prospective host families,

Hello! My name is Sky and I am currently 16 years old, I will be turning 17 next month! I would describe myself as a curious and adventurous person. I never hesitate to chase what I want in life, but I also know how to stay calm when it matters most. One of my biggest passion is sailing, which has taught me not only about competition, but also about teamwork, patience, and resilience. At school, I study chemistry and biology, because I enjoy training my mind to think critically and discovering how the world is built.

Outside of school and training, I usually spend my time either alone or with my family. My parents support me a lot in what I do, especially in sailing, and I feel thankful for their encouragement and the opportunities they give me. I also have an older sister, three years ahead of me. She understands me better than anyone else in the family, and I appreciate the way she guides me whenever I feel uncertain. I have a wonderful family and I have a great relationship with everyone and I am very grateful for them!

Sailing has been a big part of my life. I have competed internationally, placing fifth in the male category at the 25th Asian Championships and also participating in the 25th World Championships in Porto, Portugal 2025. These journeys gave me unforgettable experience and friendships, and taught me me how to keep going even when things don't turn out as planned.

Looking forward, I am excited to explore new directions in my life. I am curious about fields such as artificial intelligence and engineering, because I want to apply science to solve real-world problems and grow with technology. I am also interested in psychology and the science of the human mind, as I want to better understand people and how we think. I may not have a fixed career goal yet, but I know I want to keep learning, challenge myself, and discover the path that fits me best.

I believe joining this exchange program is the right step for me. I want to open a new chapter in my life, experience a different culture, and challenge myself to grow more independent and adaptable. I know I will be stepping outside of my own comfort zone, but I believe these challenges will help me become more confident, open, and adaptable, and I look forward to grow together with you and become a part of your family.

Warmest Regards,

Sky.
