About:

I think I am an outgoing kid because I like to talk and to meet a lot of people. I have friends now in Germany, in Australia and in some other places. I like to ask questions to know more about how things work. I'm independent because I have learn how to do things by myself and that has allowed me to be able to go to Australia for 3 months, far from home and family and feeling really excited about it. And I'm an optimistic human being because I'm always happy and trying to find the positive part

Student Letter:

I’m a 14-year-old boy. I´m very open. I go on every school trip. I’ve been to Andorra twice and to Germany for a school exchange. Germany was a bit hard because my German partner didn’t know how to speak any Spanish (even though she was part of the Spanish club in her school), and she could hardly speak any English.

I’m going to talk you about my family. I live with my parents and my siblings. I share a room with my brother. He is younger than me, so everything I do, he watches me and wants to do the same thing. We have a really good relationship, and we’re almost always doing things together. My sister is also younger than me. She’s very different from me because I’m 5 years older than her, and also because her interests are very different from mine.

Now I´m going to talk you about my hobbies. I play basketball on the town team, and we are really good. I have lots of friends because it’s really easy for me to make friends. I hang out with my friends every Friday after school. We usually play hide and seek in the park in front of the mall. Sometimes, we go up to the mountains. Other times, we play basketball (almost everyone in my group of friends loves it). Sometimes, we listen to music by artists like Travis Scott, Central Cee, Juice WRLD, XXXTentacion, or Kendrick Lamar. And sometimes, we just walk around the mall while eating sweets or chips.

In my town, almost every teenager plays video games, even my dad. The most common ones are Brawl Stars and Fortnite. I love playing both, but I also like playing Pokémon Sword/Shield on the Nintendo Switch.

My hobbies are playing basketball (it’s my favorite sport), collecting things (sometimes I think some items could be worth more than what I bought them for). I have lots of collaborations between brands. My favorite thing to collect is Prime sports drinks—I have more than 35 different ones. Sometimes, I go scootering to the skate bowl. When I was younger I used to play hockey and in the tournament we finished first. I also used to play tennis.

Time to talk you about my school. I like school. Most subjects teach you about things that you will use in the future, and I have friends and learn useful things. My favorite subjects are Maths, Computing and PE.

I would like to go to the USA because I have never been there, and I love traveling. I also think it's the most famous country on earth, and there are lots of places I would like to visit in each state. I have also lived for 3 months in Australia with a host family, and I helped in a restaurant.

I love traveling and knowing different cultures and people. I've always wanted to visit US as I consider it is an incredible and great country. I'm looking forward to know my host family and I'm really thankful for having the opportunity to join this program and to join your family. I'm sure we will have a great time together.

I am also very sociable, sporty and I am a person who is always smiling and happy. I like to practice volleyball, meet with friends, and listen to music.

Student Letter:

Hello host family,

My name is Carlota, I’m 14 years old, and my dream has always been to go on an exchange program to the United States.I am writing this letter to tell you how grateful I am that you are making it possible for me to fulfill my dream.

When I was younger, I always watched American movies and loved them because they show a life that is totally different from the one we have here in Spain.

My older brother went to Oklahoma last year to study for a year, and he had a great time. I don’t want his experience; I want my own, and I would love for us to do everything we can to make it the best one.

From what I’ve heard, people there do a lot of sports, so I would love to play volleyball on the school team if possible. I would also love to be a cheerleader like in the American movies, although I’m not sure how good I’d be at it, but everything is a matter of practice.

I love spending time with my friends, going out to eat, and going to the mall because I love shopping, but I also really enjoy spending time with my family, going on trips, eating out at restaurants, or cooking together.

I have a younger brother who is 12 years old; he’s not that little, but I really love babies, and whenever I have the chance, I play with them and feed them. Even if a friend has a dinner, I usually stay with their kids to take care of them until they come back.

I absolutely love Spanish culture, our way of dressing, like the flamenco dresses, but I think the thing I’ll miss most is the food. So, to make it easier for me, and for you to get a bit of my culture, how about I prepare a typical Spanish dish once a week? It would be great if we could do it as a family, but if not, I would be happy to do it on my own.

What you are doing for me is incredible, and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to fully thank you for it.

Thank you so much,

Carlota

About:

If I have to describe myself I think that I start with my main cuality, I am really active.

I love doing things with family and friends because I really like to do sports or have a walk, it could be at the mountains or at the city but I also like stay at home, playing board games or watching a movie.

I am also really adaptable because in my life I experienced some changes, for example when I was 11 I moved to another city, changed school, friends... And I adapted really well.

I am sociable.

Student Letter:

Hi future host familly.

Today I want to speak about me, my life, my familly my friends, so you can get to know me better.

I can start talking about the first years of life, I was born in a relative small city that is in the north of the country. For me, it is the pretiest city that I know ( at the moment, my host city could be the first of the list😉) and that is because is the best city to grow when you are a child, the city is really safe and you can move around easily with your friends.

Right now, we are around 40 people in my friends group, and that is soo cool, because we are too many and we can spend plenty of time together doing different plans.

When I was 11 we moved to a bigger city in Spain, at the start I was bit stressed about the new city and friends but when I entered at the school all changed because I met a lot of new people, and they are marvelous.

Nowadays I mantein all those friends and more of them. If I have to mention 2 they shuld be Matias and Marcos. We enjoy spending time together, talking and playing.

Now we talk about my familly. My Mum is the person that I love the most I think and i know that we can argue sometimes but I think that is normal. With my father I spend plenty of quality time watching soccer and the NBA. My 2 sisters that are June and Aitana, we have a good relationship, we can have arguments sometimes though, but it is normal, I love them a lot.

About what are my hobies, the first one it could be play sports. The first one is soccer, I love play it but I am not to good but doesn't matter because I am really happy playing and I have so much fun.

The second is the music and this is because I spend a lot of time listening to music of a lot of kinds for example American rap or reggaeton, I only say two becouse if I start I don't end.

Other hobbie are the animals and the nature and if I have to be sencerely I don't know what is but it should be thanks to my mother becouse she also love the nature, we have a litle village in the mountains and it is her favourite place.

Now talking about me I love going to have a walk to the mountains why my dog Kala that I also show in the video.

Finally but not less important spend time with my friends doing what ever, playing video games, practicing sports or at school, for me spending time with my friends is really importat, I appreciate friendship very much.

One thing that I should have said before is that I am very active but in other hand I also like stay at home watching a movie or a serie or playing boards games. So I can be active but also relaxing.

At the end I have to talk about what motivate me to do this and study abroad a whole year is becouse I like changes and new things. Another reason is that I like the idea of live in a new culture and country and love it, at a sumary I want to have a change and know a new culture and country.

I am excited about meeting my future host family and I am sure we will have a great time together.

Thank you for this amazing opportunity

Adrian

Student Letter:

Dear Host Family

Hello! I’m Mana. Thank you for welcoming me to your home. I’m over the moon! I have never been to America and I am so excited for upcoming opportunity.

First of all, I'd like to introduce my self. I’m a 17 years old high school girl living in the west side of Japan. I have a variety of hobbies and am fascinated by many things. I especially like cooking, watching movies, reading comics! I often make sweets for example cookies and chocolate cakes for my family, friends, myself. I love making people happy and eating. I would like to cook anything and enjoy eating with you, if you like. And I want to enjoy the things you love with you.

Also, acting and fantasy are my favorite genre of movies and comics. Especially, Hurry Potter is my favorite movie. I really want to go into the movie’s magic world and ride a magic broom! In my school, I often share recommended movies and comics with my friends each other. Also we often go to movie theaters after school. So, why don’t we share our favorites?

My favorite thing is chocolate! When I eat chocolate, I feel so happy I could fly in the sky! And I love eating so I eat anything with gusto. There is no food I dislike.

Second, My family has three members:my mother, my brother and me. My mother is a nurse. She is good at cooking. she has been cooking various dishes for me since I was little. I was teached how to cook by her. I think it's because of her that I love to eat. She always supports me. My brother is 7 years old. He likes playing very much. I always playing games with him. Also, where I live there are a lot of interesting parks, including one that is shaped like a giant dinosaur! So, we often go to parks and enjoy plaving. We also spend weekends going shopping or watching movies at home. In this way, we cherish the time we spend with our family!

My friends are all so funny and awesome! They are all doing their best sports, such as basketball and track and field. They are so cool, and I respect them. I often learn sports from them and enjoy playing and watching games together. The place I often go to with my friends is the sea! They are always there for me when I have problems and listen to me.

Finally I'm exited visit you and your family as well as the country. Studying abroad has always been my dream. I want to become a doctor who can act flexibly and respect each individual. In other to become such a doctor, I wanted to do an exchange program and gain a deeper understanding of diverse cultures while interacting with many people and going to various places. I also want to deeply communicate the culture of the other person and the culture of Japan and the city where I live. I plan to introduce traditional Japanese cuisine and share the culture through Ryukyu dance.

During study abroad, I will do my best to overcome any obstacles that come my way. And I will consider you, my host family as my second family. Also I'll help you with anything. I'm looking forward to meeting you.

Sincerely yours,

Mana

Student Letter:

Dear host family,

My name is Lisa, I am 16 years old, and I am still in school. I would like to spend a school year in the US. It has been my desire to go abroad for a long time. The experiences of my friends who recently had an exchange year in the USA and Canada really impressed me and strengthened my wish to have this experience myself. A year in the US would not only improve my English skills but also promote my independence which is very important to me. I am aware that a year abroad comes with challenges, but I am excited for the experiences and the opportunity to grow as a person.

I've been playing tennis once a week for 4 years in a tennis club. I do and enjoy fitness. I also did a 3 week internship on a horse farm and I like horses. At school, I'm in the drama club.

Now is the perfect time for me, as I will be changing schools after this school year. A year in the US would help me make this transition meaningful and allow me to gather many new impressions before I complete my Abitur in Germany.

I am an open and curious person who enjoys getting to know new people and cultures. I am particularly fascinated by the US because it offers many opportunities to gain everyday experiences outside of my own family. I look forward to living with a host family, experiencing American school life, and participating in various extracurricular activities.

Kind regards

Lisa
